In a notable gathering of cinematic talents, the trailer launch of J-Baby, directed by Suresh Mari and produced under Pa Ranjith’s Neelam Productions, recently unfolded in Chennai. The event, celebrated with the unveiling of the film’s songs and trailer, saw an impressive turnout from the industry, including the film’s lead Urvashi, alongside a host of actors and technicians integral to the movie.

Venkat Prabhu, gracing the event as the special guest, shared his reflections on his journey with Pa Ranjith, from their early days on Chennai 28 to witnessing Ranjith’s directorial strides. Prabhu expressed his pride in Ranjith’s evolution, “Ranjith was with me since Chennai 28. Watching his growth from then till now, I feel proud and happy. I’m thrilled to see Suresh Mari being introduced by Ranjith, marking another significant moment in our collective journey.” He also remarked on the unseen J-Baby, noting the anticipation it has garnered, “Though I haven’t seen J-Baby yet, the excitement it’s stirred at my home is palpable. Urvashi Madam’s involvement guarantees a special touch, her excellence as an artist promises a delightful cinematic experience.”

Director Suresh Mari shared insights into his filmmaking journey and the conception of J-Baby. He highlighted the personal nature of the film, inspired by his family and his great grandmother’s life, aiming to blend humor with sentimental themes. “This film will make you laugh and cry, embodying both Venkat Prabhu’s humor and Ranjith’s depth. Shooting during Covid in West Bengal posed challenges, yet it enriched our storytelling, offering a fresh perspective on comedy through Dinesh and Maran’s performances,” Mari elaborated.

Suresh Mari’s venture into directing J-Baby is a testament to the nurturing environment we’ve built. This film, rooted in realism and simplicity, stands as a beacon of the impactful cinema we aim to create,” Ranjith stated.

J-Baby is set to premiere on March 8, coinciding with International Women’s Day, promising a blend of entertainment and meaningful cinema. Urvashi takes on a pivotal role in the film, alongside Dinesh Maran and others, offering a compelling narrative influenced by their shared history and vision.
