Veteran actor RK Suresh returns to the screen in Kaduvetti, a film facing controversy even before its release.

“My fans love me across Tamil Nadu,” Suresh stated at the film’s recent audio launch. “I won’t abandon my fans in cinema or politics. Kaduvetti is a character I embodied from the moment director Solai Arumugam shared the story. It’s an emotional film that will resonate statewide. This is not about glorifying caste, I would never abuse my position that way. Caste is merely a social construct.”

Debutant director Solai Arumugam revealed the challenges of bringing the film to fruition. “Many actors loved the script, but were deterred by the title Kaduvetti. RK Suresh, however, boldly embraced it. I endured scrutiny from the Censor Board for the title, but patiently explained its relevance, ultimately securing approval with 31 cuts.”

Kaduvetti draws inspiration from the contentious real-life figure Kaaduvetti Guru, a caste-based politician known for opposing inter-caste relationships. Suresh stars in the titular role, with Sangeerthana and Vismaya playing female leads.

The film’s team, including the lead actors, Subramaniam Siva, composer Srikanth Deva, stunt master Kanal Kannan, and public figures such as RV Udhayakumar, Perarasu, Mohan G, Azhagappan, and Jaguar Thangam, were present at the audio launch event.
