Mani Ratnam Presents Malayalam Film Paradise by Prasanna Vithanage

Ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam recently unveiled the trailer for Paradise, a Malayalam film directed by his friend, Prasanna Vithanage. Prasanna, a Sri Lankan director, is known for his work that tackles social and political issues.

Paradise has already garnered international recognition, securing awards at the Busan International Film Festival and the Vesoul International Film Festival. Additionally, the film received four nominations at the Asian Film Awards, a significant achievement for Malayalam cinema.

The film features a cast of rising and established actors, including Roshan Mathew and Darshana Rajendran from Malayalam cinema, alongside Sri Lankan actors Shyam Fernando and Mahendra Perera. Technically adept crew members round out the production team, with cinematography by Rajeev Ravi, editing by A. Sreekar Prasad, sound design by Tapas Nayak, and music by K.

Paradise is set against the backdrop of Sri Lanka’s recent economic crisis. The film’s narrative delves into the human cost of such turmoil, exploring the complexities of relationships and the challenges faced by individuals amidst national upheaval. Produced by Newton Cinema, Paradise marks the first foray by Mani Ratnam’s Madras Talkies production house into Malayalam cinema.

The trailer for Paradise is now available for viewing on YouTube. The movie is scheduled to hit theaters in April 2024.
