Chennai, India – After a 16-year production journey, director Blessy is finally releasing his highly anticipated film The Goat Life (Aadujeevitham) worldwide on March 28th, 2024. Based on the acclaimed Malayalam novel of the same name, the film stars Malayalam superstar Prithviraj Sukumaran in a transformative role.

During a press meet in Chennai, Blessy, Prithviraj, and composer A.R. Rahman shed light on the making of this ambitious project.

Blessy on the Film’s Significance

“This film should speak more than I do,” Blessy reflected. “The Goat Life is the culmination of my dedication to authentic storytelling. I believe there’s something profoundly moving within this tale that will resonate with audiences.” This conviction stems from his initial encounter with the novel: “From the moment I first read Aadujeevitham, I knew this story deserved a cinematic adaptation. Despite the obstacles and the years that passed, my belief in this film never wavered.”

Prithviraj on his Personal Journey with The Goat Life

“This film is part of my life,” Prithviraj revealed. “Director Blessy and I began this journey in 2008, and throughout the years, this film has mirrored my own personal growth. The unwavering support of A.R Rahman sir elevated the film and set the stage for its success.”

Prithviraj shared tales of the film’s challenging production. He recalled the initial excitement of shooting in Jordan in 2020, only to be halted for three months due to the pandemic. “We weren’t sure if the film would ever be made,” he admitted. After two years of uncertainty, the team finally reconvened, braving the harsh conditions of the Algerian Sahara desert and returning to Jordan to complete the film.

Rahman on the Film’s Unique Appeal

“Some compared The Goat Life to the fictional ‘Maryan,’” Rahman remarked, “but this is a true story imbued with raw emotion and profound resilience. There’s something special in this story; the audience needs to discover it for themselves. “

A Story of Survival and Resilience

The Goat Life chronicles the harrowing journey of Najeeb, a man who finds himself trapped in the unforgiving desert landscape. The film explores themes of survival, self-belief, and the indomitable human spirit. Its release marks a milestone in ambitious Malayalam filmmaking. As Blessy affirmed, “[The film] represents the struggles of countless South Indians who have sought a better life overseas. Their resilience is woven into the fabric of this story.”

The Goat Life will release worldwide on March 28th in Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada.
