Actor Sivakarthikeyan has released the first look poster for the upcoming Tamil film Robber, starring Sathya (“Metro”). The film, directed by S.M. Pandi and produced by Impress Films, draws inspiration from a true crime incident in Chennai.

Written by Metro director Ananda Krishnan, Robber delves into the world of urban crime. Its protagonist, a young man from a rural village, arrives in Chennai seeking a better life. Captivated by the city’s allure, he succumbs to greed and chooses a path of theft. The film explores how his choices ultimately impact his life.

Producer S. Kavita, a veteran journalist, highlights the film’s realism, citing an incident during filming where locals mistook a supporting actor playing a thief for a real suspect. Kavita further states that Robber aims to expose the link between urban crime and the circulation of drugs and alcohol, emphasizing how addiction can corrupt and drive youth towards illicit activities.

The film also features Deepa Shankar, Jayaprakash, Senrayan, and Danny Pope. Music is composed by Johan Shevanesh, with cinematography by NS Udayakumar. Robber is currently in post-production and is expected to release in late May.
