Director Elan‘s upcoming film Star draws inspiration from the life of his father, actor ‘Raja Rani‘ Pandian, who pursued his dream of becoming an actor for over three decades before landing a significant role in the film Raja Rani.
“Everyone has a dream,“ Elan shared at the film‘s press conference. “This film is about the journey of pursuing that dream with love, determination, and a never-give-up attitude.“
He elaborated on his father‘s unwavering pursuit of acting, stating, “My father came to Chennai from Madurai in the 1980s with the dream of becoming an actor. He faced numerous challenges and setbacks but never gave up on his aspirations. He finally got his break with ‘Raja Rani‘ at the age of 55.“
Elan emphasized the importance of support and encouragement in achieving one‘s dreams. “We cannot conquer our dreams alone,“ he acknowledged. “We need the support of others, their blessings, and their help.“ He cited a specific incident from his father‘s life, where their mother provided unwavering support during a difficult period, as a proof of the power of familial bonds and unwavering belief.
Actor Kavin, who plays the lead role in Star, resonated with the film‘s story and its connection to real-life experiences. “Many incidents in this story mirror events from my own life,“ Kavin revealed. He thanked the director and producers for their trust in him, doubling down on his commitment to replicate this trust.
Producer Sagar shared his initial impressions of the film‘s story and his decision to back the project. “I really liked the story,“ Sagar stated. “When Elan told me that Kavin was the hero, I immediately agreed to produce the film. I had just seen ‘Tada‘ and was impressed by Kavin‘s performance. I felt that the Tamil film industry had gained a promising actor.“
The film‘s editor, Pradeep Raghav, highlighted the film‘s emotional depth. “I was amazed by Kavin‘s performance,“ Raghav shared. “The story, screenplay, and acting are all excellent.“
Star is building to what could be a relatable tale in pursuing one’s dreams and ambitions regardless of the hardships ahead. The film will release on May 10th.
