Actor Arjun Das, known for his distinctive voice and performances, recently interacted with the press, offering insights into his career trajectory, his approach to choosing roles, and his close friendship with director Lokesh Kanagaraj.

Das began by thanking the directors who have provided him with opportunities. “You have been my biggest inspiration in my film journey,“ he acknowledged. He credited them for entrusting him with impactful roles, stating, “All the directors who have given me opportunities in this journey have offered me great roles.“

Collaboration with Lokesh Kanagaraj

Das‘s close association with director Lokesh Kanagaraj was a recurring theme throughout the interaction. When asked about his potential involvement in Kanagaraj‘s upcoming film with Rajinikanth, Das responded, “I am not in Coolie, sir. Lokesh is a dear friend, and I would definitely act in his films if he asks, but as of now, there‘s no update.“ He further clarified that any information regarding Rajini‘s participation in the film would have to come from the director himself.

Das acknowledged the pivotal role Kanagaraj‘s film Kaithi played in his career, stating, “Kaithi is the reason I am on this platform today. Lokesh has given me many opportunities and has been a fantastic mentor for me.“ He also expressed his admiration for other directors he has collaborated with, including Vasanthabalan and Vignesh Shivan, referring to them as mentors who have shaped his journey.

Evolving Roles and Future Projects

Das addressed his transition from villainous roles to leading man characters, stating, “I am not playing a villain for now. As of now, I haven‘t received any offers for villain roles. I have been fortunate to get opportunities to play lead roles in many films.“ However, he expressed his willingness to portray negative characters again, especially if Kanagaraj were to offer him such a part.

When questioned about his approach to selecting projects, Das emphasized his focus on quality and his desire to entertain audiences. “I am currently listening to many stories and choosing the ones I find most interesting,“ he shared. “I want to entertain everyone by playing good roles.“

Das also discussed his upcoming film Rasavadi, directed by Mouna Guru Santhakumar. “Working with director Santhakumar was an amazing experience,“ he stated. “Mouna Guru is one of my favorite films. I was thrilled when he contacted me for this project.“ He described the film as a suspenseful drama centered on a doctor who visits a secluded location for rest and relaxation.

Reflections on Success and Future Aspirations

Das humbly reflected on his success, attributing it to the support he has received and his dedication to making the most of every opportunity. “I don‘t know if I have grown as an actor,“ he admitted. “After watching Tamil films in theaters in Dubai, I came here and tried to act on screen. It is only because of your support that I get opportunities. I think I‘m just making the most of the opportunities I get. My journey has just begun.“

He acknowledged the challenges he faced in the initial stages of his career, particularly the criticism he received for his distinctive voice. “Many people used to say that my voice was a disadvantage, but now it has become an advantage,“ he shared. “It‘s something that happens in everyone‘s life, and the film industry is no different.“ He expressed his contentment with his career as an actor and his enthusiasm for future projects.
