Actor Vijay Sethupathi expressed immense pride in his son, Surya Sethupathi, as the teaser for the latter’s debut as a lead, Phoenix, was released. “In over 19 years of being a dad, this is the best Father’s Day gift I have had,” Vijay Sethupathi shared, capturing the emotional significance of the event.
The teaser for Phoenix, launched on social media by actor Sivakarthikeyan, hints at a high-octane action thriller. It opens with a menacing phone call, setting the stage for a story that unfolds within a juvenile detention center. The teaser then introduces Surya Sethupathi as the film’s protagonist, a young boxer stuck in a dangerous situation. The fast-paced cuts showcase a series of intense fight sequences, both inside and outside the boxing ring, highlighting the film’s action-packed nature.
The teaser also reveals glimpses of veteran actors Varalakshmi Sarathkumar, Devadarshini, and Ajay Ghosh, who play pivotal roles in the film. Phoenix is directed by stunt choreographer-turned-filmmaker Anl Arasu, marking his directorial debut.
This lead debut marks a significant step for Surya, who first appeared as a child artist in his father’s blockbuster film, Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, playing a younger version of Vijay Sethupathi.
Phoenix, produced by Rajalakshmy Arasakumar of AK Braveman Picturess, boasts a technical team that includes music director Sam CS, cinematographer Velraj, and editor Praveen KL.
