The trailer for Kottukkaali, a film directed by P.S. Vinothraj and produced by actor Sivakarthikeyan, was unveiled Tuesday in Chennai. The film is scheduled for release on August 23.
Kottukkaali is Vinothraj’s second directorial project, following his debut Koozhangal. At the trailer launch, director Balaji Sakthivel described the film’s premise as “a journey where a woman thinks she is possessed by a ghost.”
Sound designer Aharaya Khoothan revealed that the film does not include background music. “We took care not to make too much noise in the film,” Khoothan said, highlighting the production’s focus on natural sound.
Sivakarthikeyan, known primarily for his acting career, spoke about his role as producer. “If this film is successful, I’ll use the profits as an advance for Vinod’s next film,” he stated.
The film stars Soori and Anna Ben in lead roles. Soori, who has previously worked in comedy, expressed pride in his involvement with the project.
Kottukkaali is the seventh production from Sivakarthikeyan’s SK Productions. The film has been screened at several international festivals prior to its domestic release.
