Actor Arjun is set to return to the big screen in a high-octane role with Virundhu, a bilingual action thriller scheduled for release on August 29. The film, directed by Kannan Thamarakkulam, marks Arjun’s return to intense action sequences following his supporting role in Vijay’s Leo.
Virundhu, which will be released as Virunnu in Malayalam, centers on a series of mysterious murders linked to sinister cults. Arjun, speaking about his role, said, “This film allows me to dive back into the action-oriented characters my audience appreciates, while also exploring the complexities of a thriller plot.”
Director Thamarakkulam highlighted the film’s climax as a particular point of interest. “We’ve crafted the ending in a way that will keep audiences guessing,” he said. “The unpredictability of the plot is one of our key strengths.”
The film features a diverse cast including Nikki Galrani in the female lead, alongside Aju Varghese, Gireesh Neyyar, Harish Peradi, Asha Sarath, and Sona Nair. Writer Dinesh Pallath, who penned the story, said, “We’ve woven together elements of action, family sentiment, and mystery to create a compelling narrative.”
Virundhu represents Arjun’s fourth venture in Malayalam cinema, following his appearances in Vandae Maatharam, Jack & Daniel, and Marakkar: Arabikkadalinte Simham.
Producer Girish Neyyar of Neyyar Films expressed confidence in the project, stating, “With Arjun’s star power and a gripping storyline, we believe Virundhu will resonate with audiences across both Tamil and Malayalam markets.”
