Director C Premkumar’s Meiyazhagan, starring Karthi and Arvind Swami, is set to release worldwide on September 27. The film, presented by 2D Entertainment’s Suriya and Jyotika, aims to explore themes of love, kindness, and the emotional connection to one’s roots.

At a recent pre-release event in Chennai, Karthi shared insights about the film’s creation. “As I read through the script, I couldn’t help but be moved to tears,” he said. “The narrative reflects a universal yearning. For festive occasions like Diwali and Pongal, everyone migrates from Chennai to their hometowns, leaving the city empty. Their love for their native places runs deep.”

Premkumar, known for his previous work “96,” explained the film’s intention: “In recent times, there are lots of negativities spreading through social media platforms. Love alone can change it. This film speaks about love and kindness. We wanted to focus purely on Tamil essence.”

Arvind Swami expressed his appreciation for his role, stating, “I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to Prem Kumar for crafting a character that resonates so deeply with me in Meiyazhagan. The story is incredibly moving and has left a lasting impact on me.”

The film’s music, composed by Kamal Haasan, has already generated buzz. Actress Sri Divya commented, “Kamal Haasan’s compositions are exceptional. Each time I listened to them, I found myself in tears, as they transported me back to my childhood and evoked cherished memories of my mother.”

Cinematographer Mahendran Jayaraj highlighted the film’s potential impact: “After watching the film, everyone will start feeling how life would have been beautiful if there is someone beside them like the character played by Karthi sir, all throughout their lives.”

Sakthi Film Factory’s B. Sakthivelan emphasized the film’s universal appeal: “Usually, films either savor the tastes of urban or rural audiences, but Meiyazhagan will be a universal treat for both categories of people. Watching the experience of ‘Meiyazhagan’ will be more like reading a novel.”
