Director-actor Upendra’s latest pan-Indian venture Ui prepares for its theatrical release on December 20, promising an unconventional narrative approach. The film, produced by Lahari Films LLP and Venus Entertainers, held its press meet in Chennai.
“Everything you expect is here in this film,” says Upendra, who directs and acts in the project. “Everything that is suitable for a commercial film is here. There’s also another surprise that I’m waiting for you to watch and tell me about.”
The film features actress Reshma in a prominent role. “The film will definitely give you many surprises,” she notes, making her first promotional appearance in Chennai.
Actor Shanmugapandian expressed confidence in the film’s scope. “I always wondered whether we could make a film on Hollywood standards. I am confident that this film will fulfill that longing. People should not see this as just a Kannada film but should watch it as a pan-Indian film.”
“Only a few people can master a unique cinematic language. Upendra is one of them,” observes producer Sameer. Lyricist Madan Karky adds, “Whatever subject he takes, he makes sure to present it uniquely.”
Co-producer Naveen describes the project as “a big dream for all of us,” crediting both Upendra’s direction and the technical team’s contributions.
