Vels Film International and Ivy Entertainment officially launched the production of Mookuthi Amman 2 with a ceremonial pooja on March 6. The film, starring Nayanthara and directed by Sundar C, will be a standalone sequel to the successful first installment.
“We’re approaching this project as a grand spectacle,” said Dr. Ishari K Ganesh of Vels Film International, who has partnered with Ivy Entertainment for the production. The film is being co-produced by Avni Cinemax (P) Ltd and Rowdy Pictures with a reported budget of 100 crore rupees.

The launch ceremony featured an elaborate set valued at 1 crore rupees and was attended by cast members and industry figures.
This production marks the first collaboration between director Sundar C and Nayanthara. “The storyline will combine elements of action with substantial humor,” Sundar C noted during the event. “Working with Nayanthara brings a new dimension to this franchise.”

Nayanthara, who will reprise her role as the titular deity, expressed confidence in the project. “Returning to this character feels right, especially with Sundar C’s vision guiding the narrative,” she said.
The cast includes Duniya Vijay, Regina Cassandra, Yogi Babu, Urvashi, Abhinaya, Ramachandra Raju, Ajay Ghosh, Singam Puli, Vichu Viswanath, Iniya, and Mynaa Nandini.

The technical crew consists of music director Hiphop Adhi, cinematographer Gopi Amarnath, and editor Fenny Oliver. Venkat Raghavan will handle the dialogue, while Gururaj oversees art direction and Rajashekar choreographs the action sequences.
Production is expected to proceed immediately, with filming locations and release timeline yet to be announced.
