The launch of the film Uruttu Uruttu became a tribute to the enduring legacy of the late actor Nagesh, as veteran directors shared personal anecdotes about the legendary comedian while celebrating the lead role debut of his grandson, Gajesh Nagesh.
The event took on a particularly poignant tone as director Kasthuri Raja recounted the efforts of Nagesh’s son, Anand Babu, to launch Gajesh’s career. “I did not have to search for producers to introduce Dhanush; I was the producer and director myself,” Kasthuri said. “But Anand Babu went to every office for his son. He came to my office, he went to my sons’ offices. You all must provide relief for that father’s pain.”

Director Vikraman reinforced the weight of Nagesh’s professional legacy, sharing a specific memory from the set of the 1996 film Poove Unakkaga. “One of the scenes he acted in took many takes. That night, he came to me and said, ‘I didn’t do the scene properly, let’s go for a retake’,” Vikraman recalled. “Despite his big stature, I was amazed at how much he strove to satisfy the director. Anand Babu, who worked with me in Pudhu Vasantham, is also highly talented. Gajesh, you should learn from your father and grandfather.”
Anand Babu, who was present to support his son, made a direct appeal to the audience and media. “The blessings of these industry veterans for my son is a joy. This is a testament to the good deeds of my father, a respect shown to Nagesh,” he stated. “The same way you all supported me when I acted, please give your support to my son as well.”

Gajesh, for his part, acknowledged the challenges in getting the film made and thanked the producer and director for their efforts.
