The music for the upcoming rural drama Valli Malai Velan was launched at an event in Chennai. The film marks the debut of M. Nagarathnam as both lead actor and producer under his banner, MNR Pictures. The project is directed by S. Mohan.
Speaking at the event, M. Nagarathnam expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to enter the film industry. The film’s lead actress, Ilakkiya, noted that this is her first primary role after four years of working in smaller parts. “I never thought I would become a heroine,” she said, thanking the director and producer for the opportunity.
The film is described as a commercial entertainer with a rural setting, chronicling the struggles of lovers who encounter obstacles due to differences in their social status. The music is composed by Aldrin, who stated that the film’s two songs are rooted in folk music to match the story’s village backdrop.
The launch was also attended by industry veterans, including directors V. Sekar and R.V. Udayakumar. Both filmmakers offered their perspectives on the current state of the industry, with V. Sekar noting the challenges of film promotion and R.V. Udayakumar speaking on the difficulties smaller films face in securing theatrical releases.
Valli Malai Velan, which also stars ‘Naan Kadavul’ Rajendran and Senthil, is currently awaiting its release date.
