Producer and distributor G. Dhananjayan has revealed that he agreed to release the upcoming film Kadukka only after the filmmakers implemented several edits that he had suggested. The film, a rural drama from debutant director SS Murugarasu, was also hailed by producer C.V. Kumar as being reminiscent of his own 2012 film, Attakathi.
Speaking at the film’s trailer launch, Dhananjayan explained his process for backing smaller films. “I watch a lot of unreleased films… I suggested some corrections after watching this one. They understood, made the changes, and turned it into an excellent film within two hours. That’s why I told them I would release it,” he stated. It was Dhananjayan who invited C.V. Kumar to the event, and Kumar validated the comparison, remarking, “When I saw the trailer of this film, it felt like watching my own film Attakathi.”

The event was also marked by criticism directed at the film’s lead actress, who was absent from the promotional gathering. Director Perarasu made a pointed comment referencing the film’s title, which means “to deceive.” “The heroine has truly given a ‘kadukka’ to the producer. After getting the opportunity from them, she has not come to any of the events,” he said. Journalist Union President Subash echoed this, suggesting that actors should be contractually obligated to attend promotional events.
The film stars Vijay Gowrish in the lead role and is described by its director as a socially conscious commercial entertainer with a rural backdrop. The music is composed by Kevin D’costa, with one of the songs sung by veteran composer Deva.

Actor Soundararaja, who was also a guest, offered a novel promotional idea for small-budget films. “When I was working abroad, if you bought two movie tickets, you would get one free. Similarly, if producers here announced that buying 10 tickets for a small-budget film gets you 5 free, it would create a buzz,” he suggested.
Kadukka is produced by Vijay Gowrish Productions, Niyanth Media and Technology, and Malarr Maarii Movies.
