“Parasakthi was born from a deep desire to tell a story about respect, language and the power of collective thought,” Kongara said. “This is not just about a political movement. It speaks to how ordinary lives are affected when one’s identity is questioned.”
The film explores themes of identity, self-respect and resistance through the story of Sezhiyan, a principled young man who becomes actively involved in protests against the imposition of Hindi. Sivakarthikeyan plays the central role, which he described as one of his most meaningful performances.

“Sezhiyan represents conviction, courage and the responsibility to speak up for what truly matters,” the actor said. “Parasakthi challenged me both as an actor and as a person. I am proud that audiences will now experience this journey through ZEE5.”
Sreeleela, who plays Ratnamala in the film, called the project a significant milestone in her career. “Ratnamala is a character of quiet strength and compassion. Being part of a story with such cultural and historical significance is an honour,” she said.
Produced by Akash Baskaran under Dawn Pictures, the film will be available in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. The 1965 anti-Hindi agitation, which saw widespread protests across Tamil Nadu against the central government’s language policy, resulted in significant political changes in the state and remains a pivotal moment in the region’s modern history.
