Ram Charan’s highly anticipated sports-action drama Peddi has been pushed from its original March 27 release to April 30, with the filmmakers citing the extended summer holiday season as an opportunity for maximum theatrical impact.
“The film is in the final phase of production,” the makers announced, adding that they are preparing an aggressive promotional campaign in the lead-up to the new date. Director Buchi Babu Sana, who made his debut with the critically acclaimed Uppena, helms this pan-India project.
The newly released poster showcases Ram Charan in a striking transformation. The actor sports long, unkempt hair, a thick beard, and a nose ring, emerging from a crowd of weary, grim-faced people against a smoky, chaotic backdrop. The visual language suggests themes of struggle and rebellion, marking a significant departure from his previous roles.
The film’s promotional material has already generated substantial traction. The first glimpse and look posters drew strong engagement, while the AR Rahman-composed track Chikiri Chikiri has crossed 200 million views across platforms, positioning it as one of the most successful pre-release singles in recent memory.
Janhvi Kapoor plays the female lead, with the supporting cast featuring Kannada star Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, Divyendu Sharma, and Boman Irani. The technical team includes Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman, cinematographer R. Rathnavelu, National Award-winning editor Navin Nooli, and production designer Avinash Kolla.
Produced by Venkata Satish Kilaru under Vriddhi Cinemas, with Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings presenting, Peddi will release across all South Indian languages and Hindi on April 30.
