Oorukku Rendu Oodhari, a Tamil comedy starring Prajin and Pugazh, was officially launched at a ceremony in Chennai on 5 February. Actor Vijay Sethupathi, alongside producers Suresh Kamatchi and C.V. Kumar, director Subramaniasiva and others from the Tamil film fraternity, attended the event to flag off the production.

“We are making this as a full-on comedy drama,” director Yogeswaran Minor said. “For the past ten years, it has been one action film after another. What audiences really want is to walk into the theatre and laugh non-stop for two hours. This film will deliver that.”

The concept revolves around what happens when two wastrels end up under the same roof. The production team has positioned the film in the mould of broad Tamil comedies such as Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam and Rajini Murugan, aiming for a full-length entertainer built entirely on humour.

Newcomer Vikram Vijay makes his debut in a key role, while the supporting cast includes Ravi Mariya, Mime Gopi, Deepa Akka and Abitha.

The technical crew features music composer Srikanth Deva, cinematographer Raja Bhattacharjee whose credits include Pyaar Prema Kaadhal and Kazhugu 2, and editor Senthamizh Selvan. Manikandan handles art direction and Mirattal Selva coordinates the stunts.
