Pookie, the Tamil romantic comedy directed by debutant Ganesh Chandra, arrives on ZEE5 on March 13 after its theatrical run earlier this year. The film follows Kailash and Aazhi, a couple six years into their relationship, whose bond unravels after a heated argument that ends with the words “Let’s break up.” What looks like a routine fight turns into something that changes the course of their relationship entirely.

The comedy here comes from recognition. A couple who want to separate but can’t stop caring about each other, trapped between pride and affection, navigating the confusion of modern relationships. Vijay Antony, who wore multiple hats as producer, composer, and editor, described the film simply: “Pookie may appear like a simple story on the surface, but it reflects the real emotions in today’s relationships. Director Ganesh Chandra has brought fresh energy and genuine feelings to this film.”

Ganesh Chandra, making his directorial debut, also served as the film’s cinematographer. The lead pair of Ajay Dhishan and R.K. Dhanusha are supported by veteran comedian Pandiarajan, Sunil, and Lakshmi Manju. “There’s a beautiful simplicity in Pookie,” Lakshmi Manju said. “The film captures the awkwardness, tenderness, and unexpected moments that couples experience.”

Produced by Fathima Vijay Antony under the Vijay Antony Film Corporation banner, Pookie streams on ZEE5 from March 13 in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.
