Leader, the Tamil action drama starring Legend Saravanan, now has a release date: April 13. The teaser, which dropped this week, lays out the film’s central premise with the kind of directness you’d expect from director R.S. Durai Senthilkumar. A father will do whatever it takes to protect his daughter, and in this case, that means wading into a war between the police and the underworld.

“Leader is not just an action film. It is an emotional journey of an ordinary man placed in extraordinary circumstances,” Senthilkumar said. “At its heart, it is about a father’s relentless determination to safeguard his child. We have designed the film to be both thrilling and emotionally powerful, keeping today’s audience in mind. The teaser is just a sample. The film has much more in store.”

Senthilkumar, who made his name directing Dhanush in Ethir Neechal and Kakki Sattai, has built Leader as a pan-Indian project. The film will release simultaneously in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi. It has been shot across Thoothukudi, Jaipur, Ooty, Georgia and Chennai, giving the 81-second teaser a noticeably globe-trotting look.

The teaser leans hard into action. Legend Saravanan’s stunt sequences, choreographed by Mahesh Mathew, have been the main talking point online. It introduces his character Sakthivel with a voiceover: “I have to stay by my daughter’s side forever. And for that, if I have to take on this entire world, I will do so and emerge victorious.”

The supporting cast is stacked. Payal Rajput plays the female lead, with Shaam, Andrea Jeremiah, Lal, Prabhakar, Amritha Aiyer and VTV Ganesh in pivotal roles. Santhosh Prathap and Kathir also feature in the ensemble.

On the technical side, Ghibran Vaibodha has composed the score, S. Venkatesh handles cinematography, and Pradeep E. Ragav has done the editing. The combination of Senthilkumar’s knack for commercial storytelling and a crew of this calibre suggests the makers are serious about delivering something with scale.
