For Jai’s birthday, the team behind his upcoming film Sattendru Maaruthu Vaanilai chose a gift with sharper edges than the usual celebratory single. The third song from the film, released on the actor’s birthday, is built on Bharathiyar’s defiant lines Naan Veezhven Endru Ninaithaayo (“Did you think I would fall?”) and arrives in the middle of an election cycle that the film’s makers are clearly paying attention to.

Composer Krish Gopalakrishnan teamed up with Madurai-based rap collective Madurai Soldjars to build the track. The two also share vocal duties. The result leans hard into protest energy, pulling Bharathiyar’s century-old verse into a contemporary rap arrangement aimed squarely at the present moment.

Sattendru Maaruthu Vaanilai (Suddenly the Weather Changes) is directed and produced by Babu Vijay under the BV Production banner, framed as a romantic thriller with a strong contemporary backbone. Jai plays the lead, with Meenakshi Govindarajan opposite him. Yogi Babu, Karunas, and Sriman feature in supporting roles.

The technical team includes cinematographer Richard M. Nathan, editor Darling Richardson, and art director S. Kannan. With the shoot complete and post-production in its final stretch, the makers are aiming for a May release, after the elections wrap.
