Million Dollar Publication, a new literary imprint from Tamil film producer Yuvraaj Ganesan, has been formally announced with an April 13 launch date. The venture extends the Million Dollar Studios banner into book publishing, with the stated goal of nurturing young writers and developing their works into potential source material for films and web series.
Ganesan, who built Million Dollar Studios into one of Tamil cinema’s more active independent production houses, framed the move as a natural extension of his work in identifying new talent. The studio’s recent track record includes productions like Good Night, Lover, and Tourist Family, all of which found commercial traction. The pivot to publishing signals an interest in owning the creative pipeline from page to screen.
The publishing house will be led by a small editorial team. Puliyanthoppu Mohan serves as department head, with Shajan Kavitha as chief editor and Mrs. Revathi handling design. Ganesan himself takes on the publisher role.
The idea of film producers investing in literary properties is not new, but it is relatively uncommon in the Tamil industry, where most adaptations are sourced informally or optioned after a book gains popularity. A dedicated publishing arm that develops works with an eye on screen adaptation could give Million Dollar Studios early access to stories before they enter the open market.
Whether Million Dollar Publication can deliver on both fronts, producing literature of genuine merit while also feeding the studio’s content needs, remains to be seen. But for a production house that has shown a knack for spotting unconventional projects, the bet is consistent with its broader approach.
