A Tamil short film exploring the transformative role of teachers has been selected for screening at the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa. Aasaan, written, directed, and performed by E.V. Ganesh Babu, will be featured in the Special Presentations category of the non-feature film section.

“The film centers on how teachers can positively impact students’ lives through guidance rather than punishment,” says Ganesh Babu, who plays the lead role. “We wanted to explore this delicate dynamic between educators and their pupils.”

The film, produced by G. Vanitha under Sri Malamel Ayyanar Movies, features National Award-winning composer Srikanth Deva’s music. The cast includes Raman Abdullah, Thanjai Amalan, and Sri in supporting roles.

“Being selected for IFFI, where filmmakers from across the globe converge, is significant for our project,” Ganesh Babu notes. The filmmaker, who has worked across various media including commercials and documentaries, collaborated with cinematographer NK Rajarajan and editor Surajkavi for this project.

The technical team includes UKI Iyappan for on-set sound, while Nandinikarki is handling the sound mixing and subtitling. Aasaan is scheduled to screen on November 23, 2024, at 12:15 PM at Inox Theater in Panaji, Goa.
