Tamil filmmaker EV Ganesh Babu’s non-feature short Aasan (Teacher) continues its successful run following its screening at the 55th International Film Festival of India’s Special Presentations category in Goa. The film has now secured a theatrical distribution deal for the United States market.
Ganesh Babu, who both directed and produced the short film, also portrays the central character of a teacher. The film’s theme resonated strongly with its IFFI audience, leading US producers Rashaana and Cristy Corrs Beasley to sign an agreement for theatrical screenings across America.

The narrative explores educational dynamics and redemption, focusing on teachers’ instrumental role in student development. Aasan makes a case for alternative disciplinary approaches, suggesting that positive guidance can be more effective than traditional punitive measures in steering students toward better futures.
