Details revealed about the upcoming film Accused indicate a significant production commitment, including the purchase of a new bus specifically for a major stunt sequence. The film, which marks the return of actor Udhaya after a three-and-a-half-year hiatus, is directed by Kannada filmmaker Prabhu Srinivas in his Tamil debut.
Director Prabhu Srinivas confirmed the unusual production decision, stating, “We bought a bus for one and a half crore rupees, used it for the shoot, and then sent it to the scrap yard. Udhaya was the main reason for this.” The sequence, choreographed by stunt director Stunt Silva, is a central element of the action-family entertainer.

The project is also a milestone for its lead actor, Udhaya, as it marks his 25th year in the industry. “After many struggles, I am standing here because I love cinema a lot,” Udhaya said, reflecting on his return. “I was depressed in the last three years, but I waited for good content.”
The film’s screenplay is described as being exceptionally fast-paced. Editor Shyam noted, “The screenplay of this film is very fast. We have used some techniques to reduce its speed.”
The cast also features Ajmal and Yogi Babu in pivotal roles. Ajmal remarked on the positive on-set atmosphere, comparing it to his experiences on his successful films Anjathe and Ko. Producer Daya N. Panneerselvam noted that Yogi Babu allocated 14 days for the film while he was concurrently working on a Rajinikanth project.

The film’s female lead is Jahnvika, with a supporting cast that includes Prabhakar and ‘O Mariya’ fame Dani. The music is composed by Naren Balakumar.
Accused, produced by A.L. Udhaya, Daya N. Panneerselvam, and M. Thangavel, is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on August 1.
