Rating: 3/5

Andha 7 Naatkal runs on a neat idea. After a rare eclipse, an astronomy student gains a strange gift. A look into someone’s eyes tells him the exact time of their death. He checks his girlfriend and learns she has a week left. That hook sets up a tense seven-day clock, mixing a bit of science flavor with fantasy. The early stretch is easy to like. The film sets up the world, drops in small, warm moments, and hints at the rules of the gift. Yet the pulse stays low, and the bond at the center never gets the weight it needs.

After the break, the story pivots to a rabies track and a hunt for a cure. The tone turns jumpy. Scenes move fast but the logic feels soft, and the countdown loses bite. The rules of the power blur, the thrills feel familiar, and a few loud scenes step in for real tension. The film wants urgency but often settles for noise.

Ajitej makes a steady debut and handles the big emotional beats without fuss. Shriswetha sells the fear and pain in the last act. K. Bhagyaraj leaves a brief mark, and Namo Narayanan is fine with what he gets. The craft helps at times. The eclipse and night shots look good. Makeup for the illness is decent. The score is fine but not sticky, and the cut drags early before it tightens near the end.

A clever premise and a few strong passages keep it watchable, but the story is uneven and the feelings stay shallow. It plays like a passable fantasy thriller more than a moving love story.
