Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman is set to make his onscreen acting debut in the upcoming film Moonwalk, produced by Behindwoods Productions. The announcement comes alongside the release of 14 character posters for the film, which also stars Prabhu Deva in a leading role. Rahman will not only feature in a pivotal cameo as an “angry young film director” but has also lent his vocals to all five songs in the movie’s soundtrack.

Director Manoj NS revealed that Rahman’s involvement expanded organically during the filming of the track Mayilae. “Shooting the ‘Mayilae’ song with Prabhu Deva sir and A.R. Rahman sir was an unforgettable experience,” Manoj stated. “Rahman sir appears throughout the song, and his presence added so much charm. When I requested him to take on a key character after the song shoot, he happily agreed.” The director described Rahman’s enthusiasm on set as a morale booster for the entire crew.

The film features Prabhu Deva as Babuoty, a young film choreographer, a role that promises to blend dance, humor, and emotional depth. Adding to the film’s quirky ensemble is Yogi Babu, who will be seen in three distinct roles: Kavariman Narayanan, Aattukkal Azhagu Rasa, and Dubai Mathew. The director teased a further surprise regarding Yogi Babu’s character to be unveiled at the audio launch.

The supporting cast includes Aju Varghese, Arjun Ashokan, Satz, and Redin Kingsley, among others. The grand audio launch is scheduled for January 4, Sunday, at Sathyabama University. Billed as a full-length comedy entertainer, Moonwalk is slated for a worldwide theatrical release in May 2026.
