The upcoming rural romance Cristina Kathirvelan is being compared to critically acclaimed films like Kaadhal and Paruthiveeran for its emotional intensity and realistic portrayal of love, according to its cast and the guests who attended the film’s music launch.

Actress Pratibha, who plays the titular role of Cristina, was direct in her comparison. “This film will have an impact on the audience like the films Paruthiveeran and Mynaa,” she stated. This sentiment was echoed by ‘Bigg Boss’ personality Sibi, who remarked, “Watching the songs and trailer of this film gives me the same feeling I had when I watched Kaadhal. I don’t know why, but I had a similar feel watching that film.”

The film, directed by debutant SJN Alex Pandian, explores a romance between a Christian woman and a Hindu man. Director S.R. Prabhakaran, who was a guest at the event, noted the responsibility that comes with such a theme. “When a writer writes a story about society, caste, and religion, they have to write with more responsibility than when writing an ordinary story,” he said.

Music composer N.R. Raghunanthan, known for his work on Thenmerku Paruvakaatru, revealed that the film’s climax was a particularly demanding sequence. “The director’s hard work in the climax was amazing. You will feel it when you watch the film,” he said. He also noted that the film’s sound design was a key focus, and that his suggestions were incorporated by the director.

The film marks the lead debut of actor Kaushik Ram, who shared that he spent time in Kumbakonam to prepare for his role. “I stayed in Kumbakonam and got to know the people there to act in this film,” he said.

Cristina Kathirvelan is produced by Dr. R. Prabhakar Sthapathy under the banner of Sri Lakshmi Dream Factory and is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on November 7.
