Dhurandhar The Revenge, the sequel to Aditya Dhar’s blockbuster spy thriller starring Ranveer Singh, releases in theatres on March 19. The trailer drops today (March 7) at 11:01 AM, and the newly released poster shows Ranveer in character as the bearded Hamza Ali Mazari, scorching everything in his path.
Ranveer returns in dual roles as RAW agent Jaskirat Singh Rangi and the enigmatic Hamza. The first Dhurandhar was a box office phenomenon, shattering records not just in India but across North America, the UK, Canada and Australia. Dhar, who writes, directs and co-produces, has reportedly upped the scale considerably for the sequel, with trade sources already projecting strong advance booking numbers internationally.
The sequel expands the cast significantly. Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan and Arjun Rampal join the franchise, alongside returning cast member Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi. That is a loaded ensemble for what is already one of the year’s most anticipated Hindi releases.
At a reported runtime of nearly four hours, Dhurandhar The Revenge is clearly not trimming its ambitions. The film releases in five languages (Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada) on March 19, timed to coincide with Gudi Padwa, Ugadi and the lead-up to Eid. The rival film Toxic recently vacated the same date, giving Dhurandhar a clear run at the box office.
