Double Tuckerr promises to be a unique blend of comedy, action, and fantasy elements. Featuring two animated characters, Left and Right, interacting within a live-action world, the film aims to deliver a fresh cinematic experience for Tamil audiences. With its emphasis on Hollywood-caliber VFX and animation, Double Tuckerr marks an ambitious step for Tamil animation.
Starring Dr. Dheeraj in the lead role, debutant Meera Mahadi directs the film.
Renowned filmmaker and actor Mysskin, who attended the Double Tuckerr trailer launch as the chief guest, praised Dr. Dheeraj’s down-to-earth nature and his work as a cardiologist. “I am fond of Dr. Dheeraj. He is a cardiologist who has saved more than a thousand lives. A close friend of Udayanidhi Stalin, Dheeraj is also a prominent member of the state CM’s medical team,” Mysskin shared. “Whenever I need to depict medical technology in my films, I turn to Dheeraj for his expertise.”
Mysskin also offered words of support for director Meera Mahadi, noting the filmmaker’s emotional reaction during the event. “Meera got emotional, and I saw tears in his eyes. Crying is beautiful, especially when men cry,” he added.
Dr. Dheeraj recounted his initial meeting with director Meera Mahadi: “He approached me while I was shooting for ‘Pillaiyar Suzhi’ and wanted to narrate the story of Double Tuckerr. I asked him to impress me in five minutes. As soon as he started, I couldn’t stop laughing. I immediately agreed to do the project.”
Co-producer Chandru highlighted the importance of supporting Tamil animation. “There’s a tendency in our homes to favor English cartoon channels over Tamil ones. We hope Double Tuckerr will change this perception and increase the respect and acceptance of Tamil animation. Please support films like this; it will encourage us to take on new and innovative projects.”
The event was also attended by lead actress Smruthi Venkat and other members of the Double Tuckerr team.
