The success of the film Dragon has marked a significant milestone for its lead actor, Pradeep Ranganathan, securing his third consecutive 100-day run at the box office, following Comali and Love Today. The achievement was celebrated by the film’s cast and crew, who attributed the success to a strong audience connection and a long-standing friendship between Pradeep and the film’s director, Aswath Marimuthu.
The journey to their collaboration was a recurring theme during the celebration. Pradeep recounted an early conversation with Ashwath, “When he was writing Oh My Kadavule, he asked me, ‘There’s a character like this. Will you act in it?’ I replied, ‘If I act, it will only be as a hero.'” He noted that this was before he had directed Comali or acted in Love Today. “The blind faith I had in myself—that I would only act as a hero—has been fulfilled by the support of the fans.”

Ashwath shared a similar memory, “When Pradeep and I were roaming around the Madippakkam area, he once said, ‘I’m going to be a hero.’ I wished him well. At that moment, I never imagined we would collaborate on a film called Dragon or meet at its 100th-day celebration.”
The film’s commercial performance was validated by theatre owners. Rakesh of Vettri Theatres noted that the film challenged industry superstitions, stating, “There is a myth in the Tamil film industry that February is a low-earning month. Dragon is a film that broke that myth and succeeded.” Vishnu of Kamala Cinemas added, “This year, Dragon has been a box office success. We received a 100-day award for Love Today, and now we have received one for Dragon.”

The film, produced by AGS Entertainment, was also praised for its team effort. Creative Producer Archana Kalpathi thanked the media for their role in building positive word-of-mouth following the initial press screening. The successful partnership between AGS, Ashwath, and Pradeep is set to continue, with the team announcing a future collaboration.
Reflecting on the film’s impact, Pradeep said, “The success of Dragon is significant. Because of the success of Comali and Love Today, the expectations for Dragon were high. Through the success of Dragon, the fans have taken me to a very high place. I will be forever grateful to them for that.”
