As Tamil Nadu prepares for the upcoming General Elections on April 19th, filmmaker EV Ganesh Babu has partnered with the Election Commission of India to create a series of short films promoting voter participation among people with disabilities.

Ganesh Babu, known for his impactful awareness videos during the COVID-19 pandemic, has directed films specifically addressing the voting rights of visually impaired individuals, transgender people, and the deaf and speech-impaired community.

One video features Mrs. Vanaja, a senior citizen with visual impairment, who emphasizes the importance of exercising one’s democratic right to vote. Ganesh Babu shared that filming with Mrs. Vanaja was a remarkable experience, completed in a single take despite the challenges of real-time traffic.

The films utilize sign language and other accessibility features to ensure inclusivity and reach a wider audience. They are being distributed across various platforms, including cinema theatres, television channels, and the Election Commission’s official YouTube channels.

This initiative aims to raise awareness about the importance of voting and empower individuals with disabilities to participate actively in the electoral process.
