The pre-release event of Bloody Begger, directed by debutant Sivabalan Muthukumar and produced by Nelson Dilipkumar’s Filament Pictures, was held ahead of its Diwali release on October 31st. The film, starring Kavin in the lead role, has been generating interest due to its unique blend of thriller elements and dark comedy.
Kavin, speaking at the event, emphasized the collaborative nature of the project. “This film was made because of the trust one had in another,” he said. “We have given it the way you like it. Bloody Begger is a simple story.” The actor also acknowledged the role of producer Nelson in his career, stating, “It was Nelson sir who gave me a place in cinema.”

Director Sivabalan Muthukumar shared insights into the film’s development process. “Nelson sir is the foremost among those who have helped me reach this place,” he said. “As a director, he would ask us a lot of questions. I thought he would be like that while making my film. But he gave me all the freedom.”
Nelson, known for his directorial ventures, spoke about his transition to producing and his initial reservations about casting Kavin. “I mentioned some names like Dhanush, Vijay Sethupathi to Sivabalan. But he was determined to have Kavin and did a look test. That’s when it became clear how much detailing Sivabalan has done in this story,” Nelson explained. He added, “After Sivabalan, Kavin has done the best work in the entire film. It was then that I realized what a huge mistake I had made by rejecting Kavin at the beginning.”

The film’s technical aspects were also highlighted during the event. Cinematographer Sujith Charang described working on the project as “challenging and a learning experience,” praising Kavin’s ability to nail scenes in single takes.
Editor Nirmal hinted at the film’s content, saying, “The story will be as per the trailer. You will definitely enjoy watching the film on Diwali.”
Bloody Begger is set to release alongside other Diwali releases like Amaran and Pradar, contributing to a competitive holiday box office.
