The makers of Kudumbasthan gathered in Chennai for a thanksgiving ceremony following the film’s successful theatrical release on January 24. The film, starring Manikandan and debut actress Shanvi Meghna, marks the directorial debut of Rajeshwar Kalisamy.
“Although making a film is a struggle, getting it to the public properly is an even bigger challenge,” said Manikandan at the event. He credited the media and distributors for helping navigate the release. “I thank Suresh Chandra sir and the theater owners for guiding us in the right direction.”

The film represents a milestone for Nakkalites, a YouTube-based content creation team making their transition to cinema. “We trained for cinema on YouTube,” said writer Prasanna Balachandran. “We did not expect Kudumbasthan to be this successful.”
Director Sakthivel Balaji, speaking as a guest, praised the film’s approach to storytelling. “They have told life stories without imposing opinions,” he said. “The success of Kudumbasthan lies in its simplicity.”

For Shanvi Meghna, who plays the female lead, the film marks a promising debut. “Many people said they wanted a wife like my character,” she said. “This film has shown that money is not the most important thing in life.”
Music composer Vyshak worked on the soundtrack with specific intentions. “This is a film that I worked on with the hope that it would resonate with people,” he said.
The film is produced by filmmaker S. Vinothkumar under his banner, with Think Music handling the distribution. According to Think Music’s Santhosh, this is their fourth collaboration with Manikandan.
