Debutant director Saji Saleem expressed his immense gratitude for lead actor Vidharth’s dedication and professionalism during the music and trailer launch of their crime thriller, Laandhar. Saleem highlighted the invaluable contribution of experienced actors like Vidharth, especially for a first-time director navigating the complexities of filmmaking.

“If first-time directors get an experienced actor like Vidharth, the burden is reduced by fifty percent,” Saleem shared. “He understands his contribution even while listening to the story. We didn’t need to explain scenes or dialogues on set. He works diligently and is devoted to his craft.”

Saleem’s journey to becoming a filmmaker was marked by perseverance and support from his family. Before entering the film industry, he worked as an auto driver, gaining recognition for his honesty. “My father, K.N. Mohammad Sharif, used to buy me novels and encourage me to read when I was young,” Saleem recalled. “He would ask me to recount the stories and then encouraged me to write my own. Even though he is not here today, his training has shaped me into the filmmaker I am now.”

He expressed gratitude for his wife’s unwavering support, stating, “Before I pursued opportunities in the film industry, I asked my mother-in-law for permission because I had a family to support. She said, ‘You can succeed. Go and come back. I will take care of the family.’ I was able to work in the film industry only because she took care of my family.”

Saleem acknowledged the dedication of his team, including the assistant directors, production team, music director Praveen, cinematographer, editor, art director, lyricists, and the entire cast. He particularly praised Vidharth’s commitment to his role, stating, “I described his character in just a few lines, but he arrived on set exceeding my expectations, fully embodying the role. I was amazed when I saw him.”

Vidharth, known for his versatility and his willingness to collaborate with emerging filmmakers, spoke about the collaborative spirit on set and the importance of supporting new talent. “The film’s director, cinematographer, art director, and music composer are all newcomers,” Vidharth pointed out. “Through this movie, their talent will be recognized.” He also praised producer Badri for his dedication and passion for cinema.

Music composer M.S. Praveen shared his journey from a shy student struggling to sing on stage to becoming a film composer. He emphasized the role of encouragement and perseverance in his success, stating, “Appreciation for an artist is the energy that motivates them to perform better.” He expressed his gratitude to director Saleem for giving him the opportunity to compose for Laandhar, saying, “After a six-year search, I was offered the chance to compose music for his film. When we presented the first song to him, he gave us a faint smile, and we knew we had succeeded.”

Laandhar, a crime thriller produced by M Cinema Production Company, is scheduled for release on June 21st.
