The music and trailer for the upcoming film Maargan, starring Vijay Antony, were launched at an event in Chennai. The film, produced by Meera Vijay Antony under the Vijay Antony Film Corporation banner and directed by editor Leo John Paul in his directorial debut, is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on June 27.

Speaking at the launch, Vijay Antony, who also composed the music for Maargan, announced a significant shift in his production company’s approach. “For so long, I have been the hero in our productions. In the coming days, we have decided to produce films with other heroes,” he stated. Antony elaborated on the financial aspects of his productions, saying, “We are not making films with a lot of money. We are taking loans to make films. Since we pay interest properly, they give us money whenever we ask.” He attributed the lack of losses, even if not large profits, to his multiple roles: “The reason my films don’t incur losses…is because I act in them, so there’s no hero’s salary. I also do the music director’s job. And for some films, I also do the editing work.”

Antony also addressed his tendency to use what some perceive as “negative” titles for his films, such as ‘Pichaikkaran’ (Beggar) and ‘Saithan’ (Satan). “Many have asked me about giving negative titles to my films. For me, there is no negative… If you look at it positively, everything will end well,” he explained, noting the success of such films. He mentioned that a tortoise and an owl play significant roles in Maargan, referencing a local proverb about tortoises bringing misfortune, but countered it by stating, “As far as I am concerned, the tortoise is also a life.”

Maargan will also introduce Vijay Antony’s brother, Ajay Dishan, as the main antagonist. “My brother Ajay Dishan, who is introduced as a cruel villain in this film, has given a performance. I cast him because he had that talent,” Antony commented. He also praised director Leo John Paul, stating, “Leo is an excellent editor, everyone knows that. After this film, he will also be known as a great director.”

Additionally, Vijay Antony signaled his intention to increase his focus on music composition. “As I was busy acting and producing films continuously, I could not concentrate on music. In the coming days, I have decided to compose music for many films. Apart from my films, I will also compose music for other actors’ films,” he said, adding that four films with his music are expected to release this year. Antony appeared at the event in the makeup depicting burn injuries his character sustains in Maargan, a practice he follows for film promotions to generate audience interest.

The film, described as a suspense thriller, also features Samuthirakani, Mahanadhi Shankar, Prithika, Vinoth Sagar, Brigida, and Archana.
