Actor Anandraj has revealed that he initially turned down the lead role in the upcoming film Madharas Mafia Company, a project he eventually accepted after the filmmakers’ persistent requests. The film, directed by debutant A.S. Mukundan, features Anandraj as a gangster and Samyuktha as a police officer.
Speaking at an event for the film, Anandraj recounted his initial reluctance. “When Annadurai approached me and came to tell the story, I said no,” he stated. “I agreed to listen to the story only because he asked again and again. That is how Madharas Mafia Company happened.” He also noted that he sought assurances from the producer about timely payments for the technical crew before committing to the project.

Director A.S. Mukundan confirmed that the film’s one-line story concept originated with the producer, Annadurai, a lawyer with a passion for cinema. “He came not just with money but with a story. The one-liner he told was good,” Mukundan said.
The event also became a platform for actresses to voice concerns about industry biases. Samyuktha spoke about the challenges faced by married actresses, stating, “Not just color and language, but if you are married, they won’t call you to act. This has to change.” Actress Aradhaya also addressed the issue of regional preference, making a direct appeal to director Mari Selvaraj. “In an interview, Mari Selvaraj said he cast actresses from Malayalam because they were dedicated, not based on their language. We are also dedicated in our acting. I think good Tamil actresses have not come to his attention,” she remarked.
Director R.V. Udayakumar, who has known Anandraj since their time at the film institute, praised his versatility. “He can act in any way he wants; he has that talent,” Udayakumar said.
Madharas Mafia Company is produced by V. Suganthi Annadurai under the banner of Anna Productions, with music by Srikanth Deva.
