Chennai, 21/02/2024 – The audio launch of the upcoming Tamil film Mangai turned into a platform for filmmakers and actors to discuss themes of gender inequality and the need for societal change. The event highlighted Mangai’s focus on challenging the historical oppression of women and advocating for a more just future.
Produced by JSM Pictures AR Jaffer Sadiq and directed by Kubendran Kamachi, Mangai stars Kayal Anandi, Dushi, Shivin of Bigg Boss fame, Rams, Aditya Kathir, Kavita Bharati, and others. Music composer Theeson, who received praise for his work on the film ‘Kida’, has composed the soundtrack.
Veteran director Lenin set the tone of the event, stating, “Throughout history, across cultures and religions, women have faced oppression. It’s time for change.” Filmmaker Rohant, known for ‘Yaadhum Oore Yaavarum Kelir’, emphasized that films like Mangai have the power to “uplift society and its people.”
Actress Kayal Anandi, who plays the titular role, expressed her belief in the film’s message: “I hope Mangai marks a positive step forward in my career.”
Other notable attendees included director Halita Shameem, Kida director Ra. Venkat, and actor Jayaprakash. Jayaprakash shared his values with his son, Dushi, who stars in the film: “The most important lesson I teach my children is to never do injustice to women.”

Theeson, the film’s music composer, received praise for his work. Singer Sakshi stated, “Mangai is a film to be proud of, especially for its powerful message about women.” Director Ra. Venkat added, “Theeson is shaping up to be one of the most important composers in the Tamil film industry.”
