The upcoming film Middle Class is being released as a tribute to its late producer, G. Dilli Babu of Axess Film Factory, who passed away before the project’s completion. The film, which features Munishkanth in his first lead role, is scheduled for a theatrical release on November 21.
At a gathering for the film, the team consistently highlighted Dilli Babu’s foundational role in the project. “This is an emotional moment for me. This is a film that Dilli sir started with great passion,” said producer Dev, who has taken over responsibilities at the production house. “After his passing, there was a question of what to do next. But Dilli sir had a clear roadmap. Kishore has beautifully brought to the screen what Dilli sir desired.”
Director Kishore Muthuramalingam, who is making his debut, also expressed his gratitude. “Thank you to Dilli Babu sir for liking this story and agreeing to it,” he said. The film is described as a thriller that explores the pressures and aspirations of a middle-class family.
The decision to cast Munishkanth, an actor primarily known for his comedic and supporting roles, as the protagonist was a key creative choice. “When Kishore sir told me I was the hero, I said I couldn’t do it,” Munishkanth recounted. “Only after hearing the story did I realize that the story is the hero. Then I immediately agreed.” He also noted that Dilli Babu had offered him a significant and unexpected salary for the role, an act he saw as a validation of his talent.

The film’s female lead is played by Vijayalakshmi, who described her character as the “polar opposite” of Munishkanth’s. Director Obeli Krishna, who was a guest, praised the casting. “Munishkanth and Vijayalakshmi are not in this film without a reason. Viji was amazing. Munishkanth lived that character,” he remarked.
The music for Middle Class is composed by Pranav, a protégé of composer Santhosh Narayanan, who was also present to support his former team member. The film is co-produced by Good Show.
