Pechi, directed by debutant Ramachandran P., has gained significant audience traction since its August 2 release. At a press conference in Chennai, the film’s team gathered to discuss its reception and potential future plans.

Producer Gokul Binay expressed surprise at the film’s performance. “We expected the film to be decent, suffice it to say. But today we have a bigger success than we expected,” he said. Binay also hinted at future projects, stating, “They are asking for the second part of Pechi, we are going to do another film with Veroos.”

The film’s distribution strategy was a key topic of discussion. Gugan, distribution head of Dream Warrior Pictures, noted, “Beyond Tamil Nadu, it has received a good reception in Karnataka. The business for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana has been negotiated. Likewise, all business including Hindi rights has gone well.”

Director Ramachandran P. emphasized the role of media in the film’s success. “It is because of you that the film became such a big hit,” he said, addressing the press. He also acknowledged the challenges of being a first-time director, saying, “As a debutant director, no matter how big an idea I write a story, the biggest thing is to make it into a movie.”

Actor Balasaravanan, who plays a significant role in the film, commented on the unexpected audience response. “We went to many theaters and what we didn’t expect was house grass everywhere. Even the night scenes were theatrical,” he said.

The film’s technical aspects were also highlighted. Cinematographer Parthiban mentioned, “Today people are appreciating my cinematography and it is because of them, I thank everyone at this moment.”

While the team expressed satisfaction with the film’s current performance, they remained cautious about future projections. The possibility of a sequel was mentioned but not confirmed.
