The upcoming Tamil film Pei Kathai is being positioned as a family-friendly thriller, with director Jean Moses stating that it will not contain the blood or violence typically associated with the genre. The film, which marks the acting debut of Vinoth, is scheduled for a theatrical release on August 29.

Speaking at an event for the film, Jean Moses elaborated on its distinct tone. “Many thriller-comedy-suspense films have been released… but they have blood, violence, and terror. This film will have none of that,” he stated. “Even children can watch this film freely. It will be a thrilling moment for them too.” To further appeal to younger audiences, the director revealed that the film incorporates an eight-minute sequence utilizing “V.R. Motion” technology.

The project is also a debut for its lead actor, Vinoth, who comes from a corporate background. “I have worked in a corporate company for 22 years,” Vinoth said. He explained that the film originated from a casual conversation with the director, who is also his business partner. “He told me a one-line story. After that, we expanded on it, and that work has brought us here.”

The film represents a long-standing collaboration between its key creators. Music composer Bobo Shashi noted that he and the director have been friends for 25 years. “We should have worked together before, but the moment has only come now,” he remarked.

Pei Kathai is produced by Jerry’s Journey International Production House and will be distributed in Tamil Nadu by Sri Thenandal Films. The cast also includes Aarya Lakshmi, Gaana Pallav, and Suganya.
