The audio launch of Raja Kili, produced by V House’s Suresh Kamatchi, was held at Prasad Lab in Chennai, marking actor Umapathy Ramaiah’s directorial debut. The film, written by his father Thambi Ramaiah, is set for theatrical release on December 13.
“My entry into direction was unexpected,” said Umapathy Ramaiah. “When shooting began, Suresh Kamatchi sir called and entrusted me with the responsibility. While my father handled 80 percent of the preparation, both he and the producer gave me creative freedom with the screenplay.”

Producer Suresh Kamatchi elaborated on the decision: “After observing Umapathy’s research for the film, I suggested to Thambi Ramaiah that his son should direct while he focuses on acting and music. This film doesn’t represent Umapathy’s peak – he has more creative potential to explore.”
Thambi Ramaiah, who plays the lead role, explained the film’s origins: “When several industrialists shared their life stories with me, I felt compelled to bring these narratives to screen. The story reflects the struggles of people in high positions today.”

The film features Samuthirakani in a pivotal role. “Whatever story I write now, I base it on Thambi Ramaiah,” Samuthirakani said. “We often discuss how cinema can communicate meaningful messages to society.”
The technical crew includes cinematographer Kedar, who previously assisted Richard M Nathan. The cast includes Swetha, Subha, Praveen, and Mubashir, with actor Krish making his debut in what Kamatchi describes as “a performance reminiscent of Raghuvaran.”

Director Moorthy, who also acts in the film, compared it to “2K Kids’ Rathakanneer,” noting that it’s adapted from true events. The movie’s release date was adjusted from November 29 to December 13 due to the release schedule of Pushpa 2.
