Following its launch, the team behind the Seruppugal Jaakirathai ZEE5 original comedy series met the press. The streaming platform hosted the screening and meet for the series headlined by actor Singampuli, which began streaming on March 28th. Kaushik Narasimhan from ZEE5 outlined a new content approach, stating, “Seruppugal Jaakirathai is a very different series; it took a lot of time just to write, unlike other web series. This is an effort to deliver a two-hour story as a series.” He added, “Henceforth, ZEE5 will release series like this once every two months. Seruppugal Jaakirathai is the first project in that line-up.”
Directed by Rajesh Soosairaj and produced by Singaravelan under the S Group banner, the series reunites several collaborators. Producer Singaravelan, who previously backed the OTT film Mathil, thanked ZEE5’s Kaushik for supporting the new series. “We felt Singampuli was essential for this story to come out well,” Singaravelan said, thanking the actor for joining the project. Writer Ezhuchur Aravindhan, who also wrote for Mathil, spoke about his long association with Kaushik and the opportunities presented by the platform. “Kaushik and I have been friends for 22 years… ZEE5 has opened up new opportunities,” Aravindhan stated.

Director Rajesh Soosairaj credited Kaushik for the opportunity, stemming from their prior work on Aindham Vedham. “His experience in cinema is something to learn from; he easily resolves any doubt,” Rajesh said, also thanking producer Singaravelan. He praised lead actor Singampuli, countering preconceived notions: “They said Singampuli sir would dominate, but he is not like that; he is a very sweet person and has acted wonderfully.”
Singampuli himself hinted at the plot’s quirky elements, mentioning “slippers and a dead body” as central to the comedy. He praised writer Aravindhan’s comedic sense and the production team. Reflecting on working with cinematographer Gangadharan, he recalled, “When I did Karuppan, he was an assistant; seeing him as the cinematographer here brings so much joy.”

The series also features Vivek Rajagopal, Ira Agarwal, and Lollu Sabha Manohar in key roles. Vivek Rajagopal, previously seen in Aindham Vedham and Mathil, thanked the press for their past support and ZEE5 for the current opportunity. He described Singampuli as a “lovely human” who keeps everyone laughing on set. Ira Agarwal expressed her happiness with the project’s release and the lively shooting atmosphere. “I haven’t been this happy on any film set I’ve acted on before; this shooting spot was very vibrant,” she shared, adding that she dubbed for the role despite language barriers initially.
Music for the series is by LV Muthu and Ganesh, marking their second project with ZEE5. Cinematographer Gangadharan thanked the director and producer for the opportunity and noted Singampuli’s full cooperation.

Guest director M. Rajesh attended the event, praising the “young team” and ZEE5’s initiative to create more opportunities for newcomers. He commended his friend, producer Singaravelan, and lauded Singampuli’s versatility.
