Producer SS Lalith Kumar of Seven Screen Studio has surprised debutant director Suresh Rajakumari with a new car at the pre-release event of his upcoming film Sirai. The gesture, made ahead of the film’s scheduled Christmas release on December 25, signals the producer’s high confidence in the project.
Held in Chennai, the event saw a gathering of industry heavyweights, including director Vetri Maaran, under whom Suresh previously worked as an associate. Vetri Maaran praised his protégé’s temperament, noting, “Suresh is a very balanced person. Even if I do something, he will not accept it just because I am doing it. He will stand by what is right.” He added that the car gift reflects the producer’s trust in Suresh’s ability to deliver a quality film under pressure.

Sirai, billed as a drama based on true events, features a story penned by director-actor Tamizh (known for Taanakkaran). The narrative is grounded in real-life incidents Tamizh encountered, promising a raw and authentic portrayal of police procedural dynamics. Vikram Prabhu stars as a police officer, a role that drew praise from producer Kalaipuli S. Thanu, who remarked that the actor “lived as the cop.” The film also marks the acting debut of Lalith Kumar’s son, LK Akshay Kumar, who stars alongside Anishma, while Anantha plays the female lead opposite Vikram Prabhu.

The technical crew includes composer Justin Prabhakaran, cinematographer Madhesh Manickam, and editor Philomin Raj, who was credited by the producer as a creative pillar of the project. Speaking at the event, Lalith Kumar expressed his gratitude to Thalapathy Vijay for giving the production house its identity with Master and Leo, and voiced his strong belief that Sirai will resonate deeply with audiences.
