The trailer for the upcoming romantic comedy Sweetheart, produced by YSR Films, was unveiled at an event in Chennai this week. The film marks the directorial debut of Swineet S. Sukumar and stars Rio Raj and Gopika Ramesh in the lead roles.
“Sweetheart is a complete romantic drama. Audiences will be able to enjoy Yuvan Shankar Raja’s music throughout the film,” said Rio Raj, who plays the male lead. “I’ve placed my trust in director Swineet, and he has delivered. He truly loves cinema, and I’m proud to call him my student.”
Gopika Ramesh, who makes her Tamil cinema debut with this film, expressed her gratitude for the opportunity. “Sweetheart is a very special film for me as it’s my first Tamil project. Though I’m not a Tamil woman, I’m thankful for the love Tamil audiences have shown me,” she said.
Director Swineet S. Sukumar revealed that Rio had committed to the project early on. “During the production of ‘Jo,’ I narrated this story to Rio Raj. He promised this would be his next film. After ‘Jo’ became a hit, numerous production companies approached him, but he kept his word and completed ‘Sweetheart,'” said Swineet.
The film’s music has been composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, who is also producing the film under his YSR Films banner. “This is Swineet’s dream project. My dream is to give opportunities to new talent like him,” said Yuvan. “When I returned from tour, they had already finished the film. After watching it, I was excited and we added two more songs.”
Director Ponram, who attended the event as a special guest, praised the chemistry between the lead actors. “The chemistry between Rio and Gopika on screen is excellent. Young audiences will definitely connect with it,” he noted. “I particularly like the ‘Kisa’ song in this film. This movie releasing on March 14 will surely be a hit.”
Director Desing Periyasamy commented on the film’s promotional materials. “The title ‘Sweetheart’ is excellent. The video announcement for this film really impressed me. The poster design giving importance to four characters is exceptional,” he said.
The film also features Redin Kingsley, Arunachaleswarar, Rangi Panikar, Suresh Chakravarthy, and Thulasi in supporting roles. The cinematography has been handled by Balaji Subramanyam, with Sivasankar as art director and Tamilarasan managing the editing work.
Sweetheart is scheduled for worldwide theatrical release on March 14. Five Star Senthil will be distributing the film throughout Tamil Nadu.
