Actor Sasikumar attributed the success of his film Tourist Family to the audience and the rise of new talent, stating, “Don’t think that a Sasikumar has won, or Million Dollar [Studios] has won. A new generation has won.” Speaking at the film’s success meet in Chennai, Sasikumar emphasized that the movie’s positive reception has given hope to aspiring filmmakers with good stories. The film, which released on May 1st, has reportedly been declared a blockbuster, garnering positive responses from both audiences and critics.
Directed by debutant Abishan Jeevinth and co-starring Simran, Tourist Family explores the lives of Sri Lankan Tamil refugees in Tamil Nadu. Sasikumar revealed that the film’s collections have surpassed his previous highest-grossing films, Sundarapandian and Kutti Puli. “I’m sharing this because it should give confidence to everyone who comes next,” he said, also advising producers to be transparent about box office figures with actors to maintain realistic salary expectations.


Actor Simran expressed her joy, stating, “I’ve been in this industry for many years. The support you give is the reason for this success.” She praised Sasikumar as a “wonderful human being, wonderful director, and wonderful co-star.” Director Abishan Jeevinth thanked the media for their role in the film’s success, noting, “It’s because of your praise that people have come to theatres in droves.”
