Actress Varalaxmi Sarathkumar and Mumbai-based gallerist Nicholai Sachdev, who recently tied the knot in a private ceremony in Krabi, Thailand, met with the press in Chennai to discuss their marriage and future plans.
Addressing the media, Nicholai Sachdev expressed his commitment to embracing his new life in Chennai. “Mumbai is no longer my home. Chennai is my home now,” he stated, adding that he is currently learning Tamil. Sachdev also revealed an interesting decision regarding their names post-marriage. “Varalaxmi will definitely not change her name to Varalaxmi Sarathkumar Sachdev after marriage. I also like that her name remains Varalaxmi Sarathkumar. But I will take her name. Now my name is Nicholai Varalaxmi Sarathkumar Sachdev.”
Sachdev emphasized his support for Varalaxmi’s acting career, stating, “Even though Varalaxmi married me, I was not her first love. Her first love was always acting in cinema. She will continue to act even after marriage. She definitely needs your love and support.”
Varalaxmi Sarathkumar confirmed her intention to continue her film career. “As Nicholai said, he is my love. But my life is cinema. So, I will definitely act in films even after marriage,” she affirmed.
Actor Sarathkumar, Varalaxmi’s father, also spoke at the event, sharing his thoughts on the union. “It was Varalaxmi who introduced us to Nicholai. Love has come to our family with Nicholai. He is a very energetic person. The happiness he has given will surely last a lifetime. By God’s grace, these two have met. I want your blessing,” he said.
