Actor Vishal and director Hari, known for their successful collaborations on films like Thamirabharani and Poojai, have joined forces once again for the upcoming action flick Rathnam.

At a recent gathering, the team behind Rathnam shared their experiences and insights into the project. Music director Devi Sri Prasad, who has previously worked with Hari on several films, expressed his admiration for the director‘s vision and work ethic. “A film rests entirely on the shoulders of a director, and we all work according to his vision,“ Prasad stated. He further highlighted a unique aspect of Rathnam, saying, “There is a single-shot action sequence in this movie, which left me awestruck. This will perhaps be the lengthiest single-shot action sequence that anyone would have seen till now.“

Actor Samuthirakani, who plays a significant role in the film, praised both Hari and Vishal for their dedication and talent. “Hari and Vishal are truly remarkable individuals,“ he remarked. “I have learned invaluable lessons from Hari Anna – dedication, perseverance, unwavering determination. Vishal is like a brother to me.“ He also hinted at a potential future collaboration with Vishal, expressing confidence in its success.

Vishal, reflecting on his two-decade-long career, thanked the media and his fans for their unwavering support. He emphasized the importance of civic duty, stating, “Tomorrow holds great significance as it is a crucial day for voting. If necessary, a film‘s release can be postponed to next Friday, but the importance of voting cannot be undermined.“

He spoke about the success of his recent film Mark Antony and his desire to continue pushing boundaries. Addressing concerns about his on-screen persona, Vishal shared, “After ‘Mark Antony,‘ when people expressed concerns about not seeing the old Vishal, I called Hari and proposed the idea, to which he responded with great enthusiasm.“ He expressed confidence in Rathnam and its ability to entertain audiences with its blend of action and commercial elements.

Director Hari, marking his seventeenth film with Rathnam, elaborated on the film‘s unique action sequences and the collaborative effort behind them. He highlighted a particular scene, shot in a single take, involving eight sequences and four stunts performed by Vishal and Priya Bhavani Shankar across four different locations, covering a distance of 3.5 kilometers. “Many people believed it would be an impossible feat, but the team has done a remarkable job,“ Hari stated, emphasizing his commitment to bringing realism to action sequences.

The film, produced by Stone Bench Films and Zee Studios South, with Invenio Origin as co-producers, is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on April 26, 2024.
