Veteran actor Sathyaraj expressed his enthusiasm for his role in the upcoming science fiction thriller Weapon, a film that marks a departure from his usual roles in Tamil cinema. At the film‘s trailer launch event, Sathyaraj praised the film‘s producer, Mansoor, and director, Guhan Senniappan, for their commitment to bringing this ambitious project to life.

“A superhero is one who shows bravery on the ground rather than on screen,” Sathyaraj remarked. “This type of film requires a huge budget, and producer Mansoor has invested based solely on the strength of the story. The true heroes of this film are producer Mansoor and director Guhan.” He further shared his aspirations for his character, stating, “Like Kattappa, I want my character in this film to be timeless.”

Actor Vasanth Ravi, who co-stars with Sathyaraj, highlighted the director‘s passion for the superhero genre and the film‘s potential impact on Tamil cinema. “Making superhuman stories in Tamil is no ordinary thing,” Ravi observed. “Director Guhan has loved comic books since his childhood, and he wanted to bring that genre to the screen. Weapon is his first step towards achieving that dream.”

He spoke about the challenges of making such films, acknowledging the need for substantial financial resources. “These types of films require huge budgets,” Ravi said. “I am thankful to Million Studio Productions for making it happen.” He further revealed that director Nelson Dilipkumar had praised the film‘s trailer, stating that it had been a long time since a fantasy action film of this caliber had been released in Tamil cinema.

Ravi emphasized the learning experience he gained from working with Sathyaraj, drawing parallels to his collaborations with veteran directors Bharathiraja and Rajinikanth. “Just as I learned a lot from them, I also learned a lot from Sathyaraj sir,“ Ravi shared. “He openly speaks his mind. No matter how many films he has acted in, this film will be unforgettable in his career.“

Weapon, produced by Million Studio Productions and presented by Mansoor, features Tanya Hope as the female lead and boasts a strong technical team, including cinematographer Prabhu Raghav, VFX supervisor Gokul, editor Gobi, and stunt director Sutheesh. The film is set to release worldwide in May.
